The 100th performance of the Russian production of the world-famous musical “Beauty and the Beast” took place at the MDM Theater the other day. The special guest of the anniversary performance was the famous librettist, the eminent winner of the Oscars, Grammy and Golden Globes, Sir Tim Rice, who wrote the libretto for the original version of the musical Beauty and the Beast.
In addition, he is known for working with the legendary Andrew Lloyd Webber, with whom he created classical works of world musical theater - “Jesus Christ the Superstar” and “Evita”. Together with Elton John, the librettist worked on the animated film and the musical "The Lion King".

The 100th performance was attended by popular athletes, famous cultural and art workers, famous TV presenters, artists and musicians, many of whom came to the performance by their families.
“I came here with my creative television group, to whom I said that we should watch the musical that everyone is talking about now,” Andrei Malakhov confessed before the performance.
“Our family is going to the show for the second time,” said Ekaterina Strizhenova.- I am delighted: live sound and great actors. Our daughter Alexandra liked Lumière most of all, and I - the main characters: Monster and Belle. ”
“I was on this musical three times on Broadway, and even saw the play with Tony Braxton in the lead role,” said Natasha Koroleva. - “Beauty and the Beast” is the most beautiful and entertaining Broadway musical. I am delighted that Tim Rice arrived! ”
After the performance a solemn presentation of the keys to the Volvo XC70 car to the performer of the main male role of the musical “Beauty and the Beast” Igor Ivanov took place. The festive ball in the lobby of the MDM Theater opened the "star duet" of the singer Alexei Vorobiev and the performer of the role of Beauty Natalia Bystrova. They presented the famous variety version of the composition “Beauty and the Beast” in exclusive costumes from the couturier collection based on the musical.
