Rosacea: causes, symptoms, treatment
Rosacea, or simply rosacea, is a pathology of the skin of the face, manifested by redness of the skin in the cheeks and nose (less often on the forehead and chin), as well as the appearance of purulent abscesses and other rashes. As a result, the skin in the affected area becomes a bright red hue (due to the strong dilation of blood vessels), then a bluish tinge appears.
Until now, the exact causes of this disease have not been established. In the course of the research it was revealed that due to a disturbance in the activity of the nervous and endocrine systems and the digestive organs, changes in the functioning of the capillaries occur, which leads to the occurrence of pink acne. Often, pathologies are exposed to women over the age of thirty years (in the near-menopausal period). However, the representatives of the fair sex can occur such rashes on the face and at a younger age. The causes of the pathology can be: alcohol abuse, prolonged exposure to the sun or, conversely, in the cold, regular consumption of spicy foods.
Rosacea, as already mentioned, is manifested by redness of the skin on the cheeks, nose, chin, forehead. Over time, small bulges appear in places of reddening, which then transform into ulcers (acne, acne). In some cases, the rash can spread from the face to the shoulders and back. Rosacea onThe later stages of its manifestation are characterized by a tightening of the skin in the affected areas. Vascular dilation and vascular network formation may occur. In half of the patients, there is also a lesion of the eyes, manifested by their dryness, redness, cutting and the sensation of sand, tearing. To prevent complications, it is necessary to begin treatment for rosacea at an early stage. And for this, one should not disregard the first signs of pathology: reddening of the skin on the face when drinking hot drinks, alcohol, spicy foods. If untreated, rosacea can develop into serious skin diseases, such as rhinophyma.
Pathology is diagnosed on the basis of examination of the patient by a dermatologist. Important in the diagnosis is the exclusion of other skin diseases. So, rosacea is characterized by the absence of comedones and black spots on the skin, which are signs of acne. In addition, perioral dermatitis, staphylococcal infection should be excluded. This can be done with additional research.
It should immediately be said that therapy should be carried out under the supervision of a specialist. Many people believe that rosacea is treated the same way as regular teenage acne. However, this opinion is wrong. For treatment, creams, ointments, cold lotions are used, aimed at removing redness and destroying microbes and bacteria. When the inflammatory process is stopped, you can proceed to the treatment of dilated vascular walls. To do this, use methods such as photo-, electrocoagulation, laser coagulation. Therapy can take from several weeks to several months. By the way, it is impossible to completely cure acne rosacea, the disease can reappear again, but with proper facial care and proper treatment you can achieve a stable remission.
