What is a compilation?

Compilation is a word that came to our language from Latin, where it means robbery. This concept is used in literary studies, accounting and programming.

How to understand what compilation is

  • In literary criticism, it means an essay in which the author uses the works of others without analyzing and processing them, and does not refer to the original sources. A synonym is the word "plagiarism".
  • In programming - translation from programming language to machine. As a result, a file containing external links is formed.
  • In accounting - the collection of information on the financial activities of the organization with a view to its further synthesis and classification, the preparation of financial reports in the process of auditing activities.

Examples of use

"Honesty and objectivity are ethical principles that should guide an independent auditor in compiling financial information."

"It becomes clear that such a compilation can be issued by the author for his own essay."
