MOEX, this Moscow stock exchange is the largest Russian stock exchange holding established in 2011 as a result of the merger of the MICEX (Moscow Interbank Currency Exchange), founded in 1992, and the RTS (Russian Trading System) exchange, opened in 1995. The Moscow Stock Exchange is the organizer of trading in stocks, bonds, derivatives, currency, money market instruments and precious metals. The holding company includes the central depository (NCS ZAO National Settlement Depository, abbreviated NSD), as well as the largest clearing center Bank National Clearing Center (Joint Stock Company), abbreviated Bank NCC (JSC).

    As of 16.03.2015, the largest shareholders of the exchange were:

    Bank of Russia (11,73%).
    Sberbank (9,99%)
    Vnesheconombank (8,4%)
    EBRD (6,06%)
    Shengdong Investment (5,62%)
    Investment Management-6 (5,26%)
    MICEX-Finance (2,2%)

    As of May 2015, the number of shares of the Moscow stock exchange in free float amounted to 50,7%

    According to the federal law (N 251-FZ), the central bank was obliged to withdraw from the shareholders until 1 January 2016.
